During the Autumn term, Class 1 studied “People who help us” and " Celebrations", which included Bonfire Night, Diwali and Christmas. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed learning about "People who help us" and enjoyed meeting a range of visitors during the first half-term. We had visits from the Police, Ambulance Service, Fire Bigade and nurses, to name just a few. This made learning real for the children along with inspiring them to want to learn more. In the classroom, pupils had access to an engaging curriculum through the provision areas linked to the visitors we had in school. When learning about Diwali, children enjoyed a visit from Tesco and had the opportunity to try Indian food along with learning about the Hindu culture. At the end of the term, the children enjoyed learning about the true meaning of Christmas through the Nativity along with writing letters to Santa!
During our recent Book Week, pupils were captivated by the discovery of treasure following a series of clues and found that a dinosaur had visited the outdoor area. Pupils had a wonderful time making dinosaurs from clay, then planning and writing their dinosaur stories. Children also enjoyed measuring thier feet and comparing them to those of dinosaurs.
